From Today's Cape Codder ...

Selectmen were similarly split on an article that would provide the Chatham Historical Society with nearly $180,000 in CPA funds to restore the lighthouse light and lantern currently on display at the Atwood House Museum. The important historical artifact is from one of the twin Chatham Lighthouses. It was removed in 1969 and is in need of restoration. It must also be moved to make way for a new parking lot at the museum.

I borrowed this one from GOOGLE images, which, appears, borrowed from the "LIGHTHOUSE FRIENDS" website ... (the "images" search also, I believe, turned one from Jeremy's page as well) I enlarged as much as I dared without putting excessive distortion into it.

That $180,000 is a chunk of change to come from the town budget.

The 4th Order lens and the lantern were removed from the tower in 1969 to facilitate upgrade of the light to higher intensity, otherwise it would probably would have remained in the tower. I question why they risked damage to the lens by having it outside for display.
