Thanks. I don't think I would enjoy trying to climb through that tube anytime, much less at sea during a storm.

Here are a few more update with new photos.

Stephen ...

I liked the shots of Roanoke River.... especially the very first one, opposite your history .... what an ideal, idlyllic setting for the light what with the calm waters and overhanging trees ...

And not for nothing, any lighthouse directions that include the phrase "look for the Tastee Freeze" works very well for me ...

Great photos! Does anyone know when the dedication to R. Marshes will be yet?

Thanks for the update, Stephen. Some day I'm going to figure out how to get closer to that light. So far I haven't had much luck either by car, by foot or by boat.
One question.....wasn't Cape Charles awarded to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service late last year or is that still pending?

Thanks,
Brent

Brent,

The most recient thing that I have in print says that "the tower appears to have a secure future with the Nature Conservancy." The short article also goes on to say that it is in need of painting, that will cost about $100,000.

Also, is says that "any recipient of either lighthouse will have to maintain it to the Secretary of Interior's Standards for Historic Preservation and make it accessible to the public."

--The Keeper's Log by the USLHS

I thought there was only one tower left?

As far as I know, there is only one tower. I wonder if they were referring to Assateague as the "other" one? :?

Stephen ...

I really liked the "building" shots at Marcus Hook.

The perspective of looking up the spider tower lights worked well also.

As close as they are to here I've never seen them ... thanks for whetting the appetite once more.
