One thing that I have been wanting to add to my site has been a General Photography section, where I will have photos of animals, nature scenes, sunsets, places, etc. I have the sections on pelicans and sunsets ready for anyone would like to take a look.

Have a great day!

I haven't had the chance to visit all of your new additions, yet....but enjoyed the visit to your Bodie Island LSS page. I was there a couple of weeks ago taking some measurements of the old bldg.

No, Peter....I was compiling some basic engineering data in case we are ever in a position to move it. I was measuring the overall dimensions plus exact location of the piers, beams, joists, etc.
Over the years there has been some discussion of relocating it over to the Bodie Is. LH road (or general area), and using it as a combination information center and small museum but this is purly speculation and unofficial.
The building that I am referring to is shown on Stephen's page, photo #2.

hopefully, the dream will become a reality. It makes sense to try to use existing history and the buildings represented by that history in some new light if that will help to preserve the building. It was a shame to see the lighthouse station in Portsmouth harbor and the decay that it is in. The building is ready to collapse, and the physical history of the lighthouse station in the area will be lost to all.

Aren't there some sort of fund-raising efforts going on with that building in Portsmouth?

I hope so. I'll have to contact Jeremy (Keeper)--he'll know. The captain didn't say and was pretty negative about the upkeep. It's on an island so it's impossible to get to without a boat. Often, fundraising isn't as easy when the public doesn't have direct access to the object being preserved.

I believe so, Ross. Atleast that was the one I had in the back of my mind but couldn't think of the name of it.

Thanks for the kind words. We did have a great weekend. We found four "new" LSS that we added to our list, not including some additional buildings that were built and used as the stations grew.

We saw all lights from Currituck to Hatteras, including the Roanoker River and both replica, a spot to see logger head turtles, some type of beach work at Oregon Inlet, a sunset at Bodie which was something to behold due to the colors and the rainbow that it produced. We have so many things to share and tell you all about, but that will have to wait til another time.

Oh, btw, my parents now love the OBX as well!

Have a great night everyone!
Stephen
