After almost two months, I finally finished the complete redesign of the GLLKA website. The site now includes a huge amount of information of interest to Great Lakes lighthouse stewards and aficionados. Some of what I consider to be highlights:
Under PRESERVATION - scrapbooks containing an ever growing number of photos of the lighthouses with which we are involved, histories of these lighthouses and information on our volunteer lighthouse keeper programs.
Under EDUCATION - A slide show of our Maritime Educators Workshop held each year at St. Helena Island, and info on our Oral History program, archives and The Beacon.
Under RESOURCES - lists of lighthouses with B&B and volunteer programs, with contact info to all.
A complete list of contact info for all Great Lakes lighthouses which are operated by steward groups.
A map of the Great Lakes with clickable links to info on all lighthouses.
Information on how to register a light as a PATON
Information on how to research lighthouse keepers
Downloadable historic light lists
Information on how to form lighthouse preservation 501(c)(3)
Online lighthouse research resources
Great Lakes bibliography
Calculators of use in lighthouse research and understanding
Etc., etc.
Under EXCURSIONS - find scheduled GLLKA events by month or lake
Hugely expanded GIFT SHOP
Check it out - I am sure you will find some items of interest:
