We may be many things, but I never considered myself a "Gawker".......

A rather sloppily researched article, that was.

But....A great prespective photo.

...
and I got to make it there yesterday around 3pm ... I'll defer
to Chuck for first pictures ... What I will say is I know now why
they call it Point Breeze

I will say in the hour or so spent there, at least six other cars parked
and viewed the light ...

also, the Black North Inn, so good looking on the website, while providing
excellent food, provided an atmosphere somewhat underwhelming

and on another note, riddle me this ... MAPQUEST says the return
trip, 399.6 miles, would take 6:44. With construction outside
Syracuse, with one pump broken at refilling stop, with one restroom
out of order at the rest stop, with three people ahead of me at
the coffee shop urn, with just one cashier and four customers ahead
of me at checkout, with heavy construction for four miles along PA-33,
and with the biggest cluster-muck of six miles backup of rush hour
traffic at the intersection of I-287 and the GSP, how in the world did
I make it home today in 6:47 ...

Later ...

Glad you got to make it there Barry….I’ll have to re-size the photos as attachments, possibly tomorrow……

I returned to Point Breeze on the way back from the 1000 Islands region, on last Saturday, the 5th, to a less crowded lot, and stayed 3 hours, just soaking up the ambiance….Also walked the pier out to the pole light and sat on the rip-rap for awhile….

We gave a pass on the Black North, after a local advised us it was outrageously expensive and was primarily a biker hangout…..Marce didn’t feel like eating anyway. The large building to the East (where the web-cam is located) is owned by an insurance agency, but used to be a big-time hotel & restaurant, known as the Lakeland Hotel. It's now called the Haines Cottge. It was cool to see just what I had thought were ‘streetlamps’ really were….Only decorations out back of the building’s patio.

Someone had moved one of the picnic tables much closer to the lighthouse steps on our second visit….So will probably stick with my photos from the first visit. Overall, I found the place a very peaceful site, and the locals seemed very friendly.

I was hoping you could have made your way to Braddock Point for Don’s tour….But maybe another time ?

...
I went back at dusk ...

The tree to the left in shot one ...
To the rear in shot two ...

Kind of an obstruction to the setting sunlight

Other than that, a specatcular environment ... Im
thinking going to be a huge draw and it will be interesting
to see what ancillary businesses spring up in the area ...

If you walked the East channel Pier out to the end, the trees / bushes that are growing there totally obstruct the light from the end, out by the pole light. My thinking would be that they would have to take those out since they plan on installing a private AToN in the new light.

The trees you refer to , just to the SE of the light, I would think they will probably leave there, as they give excellent shade for those picnic tables I mentioned earlier…Will be interesting to see how they do the next phase of the project.
