Last month I spent a day aboard Northern Lighthouse Boards vessel "Pharos".
Where I saw a different aspect of the Boards work

We went out to the Bahama Bank Buoy, where they hoisted it out, cleaned and serviced it.

I had visions from an old Trinity House film where they would aproach the buoy in a small boat and somebody would have to jump over to connect the crane hook?

Not at all, using the dynamic positioning system,we gently edged alongside and using a boathook attached the cranehook to the lifting rings.

I had visited the ship last year when they had an open day,but being able to wander around and see things in operation was certainly far better and they serve good meals.
