After our unexpected overnight stay in Odderøya Lighthouse (http://www.lighthousing.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=6218) we travelled to Lindesnes, to attend the seminar about preservation and future use of lighthouses. The tower at Lindesnes is well preserved. The property is beautifully turned into a tourist attraction, with a brand new museum, a conference room, a restaurant and an art shop. One of the best examples of how a lighthouse can be preserved with respect for its maritime heritage, but also with the realistic attitude that maintenance costs money so money will have to be earned.

The pictures are beyond words. Super - wonderful - WOW!

I agree with your last sentence. It is a balance in order to have all the parts needed. In the end everyone benefits. A lighthouse is saved. people of all ages can have educational experience. You can SHOP - Yes! SHOP and SHOP in the Art Gallery. Oh I forgot about the restaurant - some lighthouses have no places to eat near them.

Thanks for this post.

Great shots Frans. Do you know the purpose of the cage around the lantern room. Is it to prevent large sea birds from flying into the windows, perhaps?
