For those who receive it at home ...

Our missing Mister Martin made the cover ... sort of the classic Ocracoke but with the twist of a reflection ... Gary's been peeking in lately ... not posting much at all ...

Maybe he can show a copy of the shot that made it ...

Congrats Gary! Unfortunately, I won't get to see it unless someone posts a copy of the cover. I no longer get the catalog since I don't order anything from there.

Congrats Gary - will probably get my copy up here in Northern Michigan around April 15 - the sled dogs are covering a lot less ground now the snow has gone!

He's the large bearded guy with about $20,000 worth of equipment strung around his neck and his shutter taped open to suck evey bit of color out of the late evening sky.

I quit using tape, Terry, and just welded it open... You don't have to worry about the tape getting wet in storms that way...

Thanks for the kind words, all. The reproduction of that image on the cover isn't what it should be color-wise, but it is a cover, so what the heck... I hope that those of you who submitted to the LH Digest photo contest fare well. It would be nice if someone from lh.net gets the April cover. I didn't submit anything this year.

As for "Who's Gary," Grover... awwwww are you lonely? Haul your backside out to the ocean and you'll find me.... I was out at Sandy Hook today. I've been incredibly busy at work, have been doing a huge amount of scientific publication writing, along with a lot of travel to give invited lectures at scientific meetings the past several months. Along with that I'm still writing the articles for Great Laker All of that equates to not much time to do much else... like post on here, but so it goes...

HE LIVES! HE LIVES!

:yay: ^:)^ \:D/

Man, Gary... You really had some people sweating around here! 8O
Not me, of course. I knew you were busy with all kinds of things because I recall you telling me about all of it heading your way back in November or December.

Good to see you really haven't strayed too far. Actually, I thought you got buried in a snow drift somewhere in Siberia. LOL =))

I haven't been back to Russia yet this year, David... but probably in early October... I suspect I tend to roam a little more widely than most folks on here, but it goes with the invitations to give scientific lectures that go with my job. There have been some interesting invitations this year, Aukland, NZ, Rio de Janiero, Brazil again, Paris, and Zurich, not to mention Moscow again... So actually, David, I do stray about as far as it's possible to go, and you thought you were just being a wise guy!

New England, Ross, I have to speak at a scientific meeting in Portland, ME in July, so at a minimum, I'll be there around the time of that meeting, with cameras, of course...

Will circumstances be bringing you back to the lakes this year at all Gary? Since it doesn't look like I'll be making it out east this year it would be great to burn some velvia with you back here.

Shirin, I haven't ordered from Lighthouse Depot for years but they still send me a catalog! lol

That is one of my favorite photos of Ocracoke--before the new walkway removed the possibility of such shots.

Gary, it was really nice to see your Ocracoke reflection gracing the cover of the catalog. Adds a touch of class! :D
