Those of us who have photography business-type endeavors probably don't take a lot of notice of the volumes of supplies we go through... when we run low, we mutter, and order more. At least I do.

I haven't used my Epson 4000 in several weeks and had occasion this morning to run print head cleaning cycles on the printer to get it ready to print today. When you do that on the 4000, at the end of the cleaning cycle page, it gives you some statistics. I guess I haven't paid much attention to them, because the sort of blew my mind this morning!

Ink Usage - 3878.2 ml (that translates to ~17.6 x 220 ml ink cartridges at ~$84/cartirdge 8O OUCH :!:)

Paper Usage - 30,339.5 cm (that translates to 11,945 INCHES of paper that have been run through my Epson 4000 to date 8O #-o )

I wish my 2200 would give stats like that, it would be interesting to see how much I've gone through.

Hmmm ... Perhaps I'll have to check to see what my Epson 4000's stats are to date. I'd be interested to know just how much I've done with it as well.

Kind of like the "current miles per gallon" read-out displayed by the onboard computer on my truck - it only serves to remind me how lousy my driving habits are :D
