Not that it matters in the bigger scheme of things, but there IS a light on the North Pier in South Haven. The 2008 Great Lakes Light list desribes it as follows:

Number: 19510
Name: NORTH PIER LIGHT
Characteristic: FL G 4s
Height: 28
Range: 6
Structure: SG on pole

My point was that there could be a North Pier and/or South Pier lighthouse in any location along the Great Lakes, which makes for a good reason to identify the location as well. "South Pier light" is vague, as Mike had said. Suppose somebody, such as myself, deciced to subscribe to Great Laker magazine? For those who are not from the area, they would have no idea where that lighthouse is located. I still go with the caption was flubbed in some way. :D
