I couldn't resist the temptation to throw this structure into the ring. Believe it or not it was an entry in the ILLW in August and after much emailing I eventually had to allow it as an entry. It is listed as an navigation aid and it is a light in a structure. My offsider asked wher is the cut out moon in the door.
I really don't expect anyone to guess the name, but you never know. It's in Europe and the water in the background is not an ocean.

I don't know yet, Kevin, but I'm tempted to guess Swedish or Finnish...

Well, I have a book of Finnish lights and just went through it. It wasn't in the book I have but I don't know how all inclusive the book is and my reading ability in Finnish is nil.... Then again you said it was European... does that include Scandanavia, Kevin?

Hey Frans, it's on your side of the Atlantic. Any ideas?

Good guess Gary. You are in the right vicinity. The big hint was in my first post and the water in the pic is a gulf, it's an entry in the Lighthouse weekend.

I wasn't sure if we were looking at a gulf or a large lake, Kevin. I rather suspected the former, but one never knows...

Still no idea. Could be in the St Petersburg area, regarding the birches. Time for a hint?

It's in Finland Frans and it's on my 2008 list of entrants.

I really didn't expect anyone to name it as it can hardly be called a lighthouse. An outdoor toilet possibly but never a lighthouse.

Well, if you need an outhouse, might as well make it look like something else...

Based on the clues provided it's probably Marigrund Lighthouse?

Problem is, I can't find any photos nor any info on it anywhere to verify if it is or not. Not even at the Finnish Maritime site.

If anyone has a book on Finnish lighthouses, they may be able to identify it. But that's my best guess. Wish I could be sure.

You are quite correct Frans. It's at 62°32'N 21°04'E and appears in the Volume C of the Admiralty list. Number 4314.
For it to qualify as an entry in our event I had to get details and photos from the entrant. He claims that the area is and old fisherman's haunt of the 1800's and that the light dates back to that time.

Didn't make it into the book I have on Finnish lighthouses... then again, I guess I'm not surprised when you consider it would probably be a pretty minor light.

I presume I have the same book as Gary. No Marigrund at all. Nice to find such an unknown lighthouse here, Kevin.

The guy who entered the lighthouse in our event provided me with these pics which show that it is listed in the official list of Finnish Lighthouses as well as the Admiralty list. I needed this information to make sure the structure qualified as an entry.
