Windy day

A forum to post any lighthouse pictures you'd like others to see. Feel free to talk about lighthouse photography. Lighthouse-related photos (such as LSS and lenses) are also welcome.

It's late and I have to get some sleep before I head back out to the lake (St. Joe) at 0' dark thirty, but I thought I'd post one shot from the 14gigs I took today at South Haven. Yep, Fall is here. Life is good...

Hey Freighterboy... no fair  I don't care what Grover thinks of the "Garden State," fall lighthousing here sucks in comparison to the Great Lakes.

I'm sensing a shift away from Mike's topic ...

I'd comment but Gary has already summed it up pretty well.

I would love to see more Mike! Thanks for sharing.

Enjoy it Mike. I'll have to look forward to what you get this fall. Working in SE Texas is going to make it impossible for me to get there myself.

Only 14 gigs? 8O

Yeah, you can have your Jersey, this here is where it's at!!!

Turned out to be a bust for this morning's shooting, I didn't even leave the house due to the winds dying down and the crappy weather conditions. But I'm still thrilled with what I got at South Haven, and in a month when I finish sorting all the shots I took I might be able to post a few!

Well, maybe I'll do one tonight just to I can re-live it myself.

Ok, I picked this one out of the stack, I think it's one of the better ones from the day (though I have a lot of shots I haven't even looked at yet). As sunset got closer, I decided to move to the north beach to shoot, in the hopes of backlighting the waves and eventually shooting into the sunset.

Eventually I'll show you some shots of those insane wind surfers in the first picture. I saw them - no exaggeration - 30-40 feet above the surface of the water more than once. And then I'll get to some sunset shots as well. Just depends on how much time I can steal to get them sorted.

Mike ... I like the perspective of the first shot ... it reminds me of the timing and patience (I counted seven waves preceding the one that gave you the spalsh) necessary to give you the last shot ...

That last photo is superb, Hersh. You ought to submit it to one of the lighthouse photography contests. It's a guaranteed sure winner. That's one of the best I've ever seen.

Bowing in awe to your talent.

Thanks very much for the complement Sue, though I'm not much for photo contests anymore. I'm glad you liked that one, thus far it's one of my favorites from the day's shooting.

Barry, sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time....

Guess that shot of South Haven makes up for the day I was shooting high contrast at St Joe when you couldn't make it Hersh. Nice one...

Funny, your shots from that day were in my mind as I was driving across to the north shore... Of course these are pretty different from those, but it was in my mind to do something similar.

I sort of wondered if you weren't thinking along those lines. I'll have to find one or two of those and post them on a different thread... I don't want to dilute your thread.
