If you are going to be on the Outer Banks for Thanksgiving, be sure to pay a visit to Chicamacomico LSS Friday, Nov. 25 from noon to 5pm.

Special guests, costumed interpreters, gift shop sales, programs, and many more surprises will be on hand for the last event of the season. Come see the site in its holiday splendor.

Here you will see a restored 1911 station and the 1874 station, as interpreters bring to life the days of the surfmen.

Built and manned in 1874, Chicamacomico was the very first Lifesaving Service station in North Carolina. It is located on Hatteras Island in the village of Rodanthe. To learn more about Chicamacomico and the surfmen who served, please visit http://www.chicamacomico.net
