The National Park Service has opened a comment period for moving the Bodie Island life saving station that dates from 1879 and two other buildings to protect them from the encroaching ocean.

A public meeting is scheduled for Nov. 13 in the First Flight Centennial Pavilion at the Wright Brothers National Memorial.

Maybe we need Al and Stephen down there to speak to the issue?

The last I heard, Barry, there were a couple of sites as possibilities for the move. One of which was to move all the buildings across the highway to be near the lighthouse.

That would be my preference, since they do need to be moved to save them. That would open up all sorts of possibilities for historical interpretation.

I hope someone from here is able to attend the meeting and keep us informed.
