Quote from the first newspaper article above:-
The LV18, the only lightship now in existance, would become a museum and visitor attraction for residents and tourists to jump on board.

This is a totally incorrect statement as there are numerous lightships around the world still in existence. Several of them are in the International Lighthouse Weekend activities. Trinity Lightship, LV15, is already an entrant for this year's event.

Where do these media people get their information I wonder.

Kevin ...

I dont know if this statement is accurate, either, but the same
reporter, in the last article, broadened the statement a bit ...

The original decision to moor the last-manned lightship at Harwich Quay
was called in and discussed in private at the latest full council meeting.
"There are two pips in a beaut, four beauts in a lulu,
Eight lulus in a doozy, and sixteen doozies in a humdinger.

No one knows how many humdingers
there are in a lollapalooza."

It could be a correct statement Barry. Maybe it was the last manned lightship when taken out of service some years ago. I don't have the actual history of LV18 but I believe there have been no UK lighthips in service for several years now.

Is there a listing, somewhere, of still-existing Lightships around the US, or even around the world, I wonder ? Anybody know ?
