Grand Haven, Mich., the first, isn't thrilled to see Portsmouth follow in its footsteps. The city of about 12,000 holds a Coast Guard Festival every summer - now in its 86th year - that draws hundreds of thousands of people and gives a huge boost to its economy, City Manager Pat McGinnis said.
"We were the first Coast Guard City and feel to this day that we should have been the only Coast Guard City," McGinnis said. "Then all these other Johnny-come-latelys jump on the bandwagon."

Sounds like sour grapes to me....What's wrong with other regions having this designation..? Their economies need a boost too....

I say congratulations to Portsmouth, and wish them well.
