I am a moderator at www.specialistauctions.com and I noticed a vendor offering two lighthouse resources which I think would interest this group. They are

these are not my items, I do not gain if they sell. A search on Lighthouse on this site does reveal more Lighthouse memorabilia and yes, that does include a listing from my own publicity spares.

I finally got around to taking a look at this special auction site, and came up with something I thought was pretty darned funny.....

A Congolese stamp commemorating the 20th Australian Scout Jamboree featuring a photograph of the Eagle Harbor lighthouse in the USA :?

I wonder where it was printed and where the paper and the glue on the back was manufactured.

Maybe this stamp was a UN project, a stamp designed and produced by a multi-national committee. :?

Terry, you're right, you woldn't expect to see Eagle Harbor lighthouse on an Australia scouting stamp. Makes one wonder if that possibly happened somehow through one of Kevin's connections here in the US?

When I published Leading Lights Magazine I subscribed at a local stamp shop to all new stamp issues with lighthouses. I soon discovered that at least half of the new stamps were from African countries. The quality of the images was often very poor and the lighthouses had nothing to do with the country where the stamps were from. I got the idea that some smart guy had offered his service to those countries and prints all kind of stamps with all kind of themes, mainly to sell them to collectors. I think these stamps have never seen any envelope or card and have probably never been in the country where they are released.
(I changed my subscription to lighthouse stamps released in the country where the lighthouse on the stamp really stands. It saved me more than half of the monthly bill.)
