In reply to the comment about paramedics -- I think you missed the fact that there's only one person swimming: Gary Sredzienski, who will be swimming 4 miles. There will be a support boat near him the whole time with a doctor on board in case of any problems. But Gary's done similar swims several times, and he's made a science of the right gear to wear. You can see him suiting up and swimming in Spruce Creek in Kittery, Maine, in this video:

Ah, So....I see. Gary looks to be a very experienced swimmer and is taking the necessary precautions for cold-water swimming. Gary also seems to be a heck of a nice guy to boot !

Wishing for a clear good weather day for Saturday. Seeing the videos, I'm sure he'll do just fine... 8)
