Judy ~ Thanks for the news!

And Gary: As always, I am awed by your photographs of the beautiful lens.

We have a tenative date from NPS for the ceremonial transfer of the Bodie Island Lens...

Thursday, April 14th at 11AM

It all depends on the schedule of the Coast Guard Admiral. If that date doesn't work, it will be Monday, April 25th.

Will let you know as soon as we know for sure. The ceremony is important, but MOST important is that the transfer is official.

Stephen, I'm going to try. The timing is not great, but the desire is certainly there.

Anyone else?

I believe that a lot of people will breath a little easier now that it's finally going to take place! :)

What a birthday present!!

Judy - I'll be there in heart and spirit. We are short staffed right now, so there is no way I can go. But I will be thinking of you.

If the event fell on one of my days off, I could swing the trip, depending on what I worked the day before. Oh well, at least the NPS is getting the lens.

JUST IN :!:

Obviously it wasn't today...NPS likes to keep us on our toes!

Bett Padgett, President of the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society reports this morning...
It's not confirmed yet, but is on Admiral O'Hara and Superintendent Belli's
calendars, the CELEBRATION FOR THE TRANSFER OF THE BODIE LENS FROM THE COAST GUARD TO THE CAPE HATTERAS NATIONAL SEASHORE, Monday, April 25th at 2 PM at the lighthouse.

Stay tuned for confirmation! Maybe this will give some folks an opportunity to go, hopefully.
