U.S.C.G. Auxiliary gives season's final Pensacola Lighthouse tour

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will be holding the final public tour of the Pensacola Lighthouse for this season on October 29 from noon to 3:30 p.m. The tour will be given by Halloween costumed interpreters and visitors are invited to wear their costumes. The original spiral staircase consists of 177 black cast iron steps and the public is invited to climb the stairs for the best view of the Florida panhandle. For their safety, children younger than six are not permitted to make the climb. In addition, several displays on the ground floor chronicle lighthouse and NAS history. This will be the last tour for this season and the Lighthouse visitor count is expected to go over 9,000 with over 600 man-hours dedicated to this season. Public tours are scheduled to resume in May, For more information please contact Jane Head at 492-5363 or aljanehead@wmconnect.com.
