Very good article.
The lantern room will be getting a ventilation ball in the near future and a roof. This is one of the last bird cage style lantern rooms (the only one in Florida).

I know that this is a bit off topic, but how is the neighboring Crooked River light?

They got a grant for $350,000. They have to clean up the lead around the tower first (so does St. Marks and San Blas). In a year or two all four MAY be open if all goes well.
