It's good to see this lighthouse being restord to it's former glory after the terrible hurricanes that ripped through Florida:

The lamp room being placed back on top of the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse today capped more than one year of work and about $1 million to restore the historic site.

"The contractors did an outstanding job," said Robert Elliott as the huge crane lifted the lamp room into place atop the lighthouse structure at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The renovation was started after hurricanes Francis and Jeanne accelerated the deterioration of the building. When the work began in January 2006, it had not been extensively refurbished in 113 years.

The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Foundation hopes to have the beacon lighted sometime in April.

The lighthouse, the only one operated by the U.S. Air Force, eventually will be opened to the public on a limited basis, officials said.

Looks like they have done a great job. I am looking forward to seeing this light. Now that is is restored or almost finished, I wonder if they will open it to more tours to pay for the restoration?
