Roanoke River Lighthouse & Maritime Museum Dedication

The US Coast Guard Band and Color Guard, the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society and many dignataries will take part in the official dedication of the Roanoke River Lighthouse and Maritime Museum! Downtown Plymouth will take on a festive air with live music, special offerings from merchants, town tours, boat rides, and more throughout the day, leading into the unique Cowboys on the Water event that evening. See the schedule below:

10:00 a.m. Museums open
11:00 a.m. Boat Rides and Town Tours begin; Exhibits open
12:30 p.m. USCG Color Guard presentation; Music on the waterfront
1:00 p.m. Dedication by US Coast Guard, dignitaries and Outer Banks Lighthouse Society members
2:00 p.m. Displays, music, nature walk, historic boat tours Museum collection, Civil War Navel Presentation, local crafts and art
4:30 p.m Wine and Cheese Social on the Waterfront, music
5:30 p.m. Cowboys on the Water an evening of food, felowship and watery Tales

The Port o' Plymouth Museum will be open without admission fees. The recently completed South Gallery of the Roanoke River Maritime Museum will be open all day, without fees. Free river boat rides will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can enjoy guided birding tours at Railswitch Nature Trail on East Water Street and displays by the Pocosin National Wildlife refuge on the waterfront.

Tickets for the Cowboys on the Water event are $30 per person and include a shrimp and fish dinner severd with unique entertainment. Tickets are available at the Maritime Museum, the Port o' Plymouth Museum or Shaylee Wright at the Chamber of Commerce/Travel and Tourism Office or from Doward Jones.
