Not much to say....Port Isabel is open, I was there last year...the grounds are in good shape and the museum in the keepers house is neat.... There isn't anything new to report, Bolivar survived Ike and last I heard, the Pratts were no longer tending the Aransas Pass lighthouse

Yeah it's a neat lighthouse for sure, very well kept....the lantern room is empty though, except for a single lightbulb (standard household stuff) that I imagine they have for ceremonial purposes since the lighthouse is closed at night, so there would be no need to have it lit inside otherwise.
Here's another picture from South Padre Island, where we camped, you can see the lighthouse and the newer bridge

Zack I think you should start a Texas Lighthouse Association.
If membership was $25.00 or less, I would be your first member.
Even if you had a small group, you could work to get a few of the others open (at least part-time). Do tours (even the private one or two might be willing to let your group visit).
If you decide to run with this, I could tell you some things that the FLA (Florida Lighthouse Association) has done. Also the Florida Keys Reef Lights Foundation (FKRLF) is starting to do some things with our 6 lighthouses (like boat trips out to the lighthouses).

P.S. I know of at least one person who might be interested that lives in Texas.
