Another report on treading water ... from The Atlanticville

He (Mr Chera, the developer) cannot proceed with the project until he complies with the conditions listed in the CAFRA permit, which include preserving the three historic buildings on the site.

From The News York Times

Wanted: ‘Keeper of the Flame’
BARGAINS abound these days in the market for New Jersey’s most unusual, lavish and historic homes.

... In addition, Mr. Primavera used preservation-world contacts, and suggested a magazine advertisement for a big, shingled colonial on the Long Branch beachfront that was once a part of the Takanassee Beach Club.

The beach-club property was sold to a developer several years ago, but a state agency regulating coastal development has required the existing buildings be moved and preserved before new town homes are built.

The colonial is available for $1, plus the cost of moving it.

“Lo and behold, a possible buyer turned up in North Carolina,” Mr. Primavera said. “He owns a similar house in Montauk — and he is thinking about moving the Takanassee house to Montauk” if he buys it.

“It takes some extraordinary effort to sell historical and unique homes today,” he said, “but it can be done.”

Aw, they look sad... at least they're still around. Looks like they need this preservation pretty soon... :|
