It seems like both parties are at the extremes of what to do about this property.

Some creative souls or groups should be able to come up away to save the LSS's while leaving them in place. My thoughts are some of the property could be developed in such a way as to make some money for the current owners. You could develop the place to still leave the beach front so that the public are large could have some access to it.

Anyone else have any ideas on this.

Congressman gets involved ...From The Atlanticville

http://atlanticville.gmnews.com/news/20 ... e/014.html

"I want to stress that moving the lifesaving stations to another location is not an option that fits within the framework of preserving the historic site," he wrote.

It continued, "The presence of three different stations at the current site is in itself historically significant and that history would be compromised by moving them."

A very poor response, or one different than the one you had hoped for?

It might be helpful to know exactly what the response was to determine how poor it was.

I understand groups out there could use all the help they can get, but if your email to them was anything close to your condescending comments to Ross recently I'm not sure I would have replied to it at all. Just trying to look at both sides of the issue.

Now to the real issue. Hopefully these councilmen can quit the juvenile jockeying for position and talking over each other at meetings and move in the direction of preserving this site. All too often political aspirations overwhelm the common good.

Good News? ... from The Atlanticville

On one hand ...
"The opponents [to the proposed project] argue that … vital historic structures will be demolished as part of the development and that the public will no longer have beach access," Chera said. "In fact, precisely the opposite is true. Our proposed development would … preserve a renovated lifesaving station at its existing location."

On the other hand ...
John Weber, of the Surfrider Foundation, said that the activist group stressed to Jackson that it is difficult for the community to keep abreast of changes and revisions to the proposed project. "One of our groups hired a professional engineer to review the plans at the DEP and the plans were reviewed on Nov. 16," Weber said. "If what the developer says is true, and he plans to preserve the one structure and move the other two, then that is not in the most recent set of plans reviewed last month. "If there is this whole new idea and plan to restore and move structures, that is a totally new situation that needs to get evaluated," he said.
