Definately good news about protecting the lighthouse. Maybe one day visits will be allowed out there.

I actually took a trip out there a few years ago with the Long Island Chapter, USLHS. Sounded like there were quite a few strings involved in getting us out on the island as the Center for Disease Control has labs out on the island. Needless to say, it made for some fun jokes when we told everyone we had a bar-b-que out on Plum Island. We didn't get into the light as it is a complete wreck inside but could peek in through the windows.
