That is the storm presently named TS Barry

Monday I am meeting up with Judy and others to cruise Long Island (NY) Sound ... been planning it for months ... The "Hurricane Season" officially began yesterday and today we have a named storm ... soon to be a depression ... heading up the Atlantic seaboard ...

When is it forecasted to be over the greater Long Island area? That would be Monday ... Storms and Thunderstorm are, accroding to "weather.com" a 70% certainty ... AND I am awaking 4am ish to make the three or so hour drive to make the 9am departure ... Yyyyaaaayyyy!!!

Feels like last year's NELL trip all over again ... like I said, it should have been named "Ross"

That's awesome news Barry!!! maybe you can bring us some gale shots from the cruise. Of course I prefer to shoot a gale from shore rather than from a boat, that could add a whole new sense of adventure to the shots.

Barry if the weather is anything like it now on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm on the coast of Maine, you will be in for an adventure.

No walking the beach for me this evening, it is pouring and the sky is making very loud booming sounds.

Now maybe by Monday the weather on Long Island Sound will be only a small depression.

It sure looks like you will be having another adventure on the Sound.

Any questions on how it was out on the sound today?

Al,

The difference was the line from Seinfeld "The sea was angry this day, my friend!" Last year at least the water was calm ... Yesterday, many, many needed airline bags ... some using the large platic trash bags (for convenience, not quantity). There was also a medical emergency that necessitated the docking in New London in order for an ambulance to meet the boat ...

Fog made Stonington impossible and the Sound conditions made Watch Hill a no go ... As close as we got to Lattimer's Reef and the Dumpling one, visibilty was freakishly poor at times.

Under trying conditions this crew was spectacular ... Friendly, caring and competetnt under unfavorable conditions for sure ... and us psasenegrs? With Judy and Ken's help I got to meet many who were only screen names before this trip. What a bonus for me.

Well it does appear that some good came out of the adverture. I have a disorder it is common on my mother side, that I have had birth called Cyclical Vomiting. I am so used to happening that I have been at formal events and could conceal it. What a little Sea Sickness among friends.

It is too bad that you - Barry and everyone else did not have a better trip. Let's hope that the NELL group will have a better time of things this coming up weekend.
