Owning a lighthouse like this would be my idea of hell.

1. I do not like closed in spaces.
2. The quarters would be very tight. See 1.
3. My idea of having place on the ocean would be having land to walk
around on. So that I could have space to myself. See 5.
4. The birds, the fog horn, the fog and the nasty weather, oh joy,
oh joy, I will say it again the fog horn, the fog horn, the fog horn, the
the fog horn, birds and fog horns, birds, birds making messes, making
noise, the fog horn. Loosing your mind see 13.
5. You could get stuck on this lighthouse with a partner or family or
even friends (they soon would not be) that you just had a fight, or
disagreement with. I am not a fighter but in this situation where
would you go.
6. What about some basic comforts, like how do you have energy for
cooking and keeping food cool. I am sure their are ways to do this,
right?
7. Without electric how would you get your cell to charge?
8. For those of you who cannot live with out your TVs, DVDs and other
forms of entertainment. How would you cope. Now I do not have cable
T.V. or a DVD player and I might watch T.V. several times a year.
9. Lap Tops and Computers see 7.
10. Water, showers, bathing and not in nasty salt water and for drinking.
Who knows I might take up drinking (the hard stuff) if I had to live or
or visit a place like this for too long.
11. Other human functions that require water, you get what I am saying
here.
12. Yes, I almost forgot, where do you walk the dog? or dogs? I do not
dog, my cat who love here. However I do not see a dog living or
visiting here.
13. My mind where did I leave it? Oh, I was being entertained by the
birds and I was lost in the sound of the fog horn.

I could add more to this list but I think I have said enough. No, no, no this lighthouse would not be for me. If someone gave to me, I would sell it quickly.

To each his or her own, Carole. It's simply a fantasy for most people. But there have been those who had the finances to actually have all of the amenities as well as enjoying the realized dream of lighthouse living. I would like to be one of THOSE people! :)

Well if I had the money I'd buy the lighthouse, no problem getting there as the roads or just fine, the keepers house is big, good view of the sound, been there many times and I like it. "Boats"..

You're probably thinking of this "Point No Point", in Washington:

The one for sale is this one, in Maryland:

No roads to that one! :)

I believe they have property near there and they may want to have the government keep ownership (security). Just a guess.

Boats, I got what you wrote. Why did it take the Navy until now to decide Now was the time to prevent the sale of this lighthouse?
