Lefrak Memorial Lighthouse on the Hudson?

Here's a question for the members of the board.

There's a small memorial lighthouse with red and white horizontal strips that stands along the west side of the Hudson River across from Manhattan. I have learned that it's the Lefrak Memorial Light but I haven't been able to find anything else out about it. It isn't an active aid to navigation. If anyone has any additional information or a link to more information on line, I'd appreciate it if you could post that information. I'll get a photo of this light posted from my other computer later today. There's also a photo of this light on the NELL website:
