Reader "cappykirk" is obviously not a Lighthouse Lover...........

Now, if the money were to help fix up his Starship.............

He may have not phrased his objection in a positive manner but his point is well taken.

He might not understand completely that most of the expense is not simply to save the lighthouse but to also protect the shoreline area.

Of course we know that in many cases the simple act of protecting one part of the coastline actually endangers another part. It's sometimes best to leave natural things to Mother Nature but man is not likelt to start doing that now.

I love lighthouses but I understand why it's hard to justify expending large sums of money to maintain or restore something that in many cases is no longer functioning as it was intended while needs that are current and ongoing don't have enough financial support.

Both responders need to take a more realistic view of things. IMHO

All of our work with the Corp of Engineers has finally paid off. They also just replaced our entry door at HOR which is a huge improvement. RED
