A look around outside Price's Creek

Just got back from a lighthouse trip? Have you just finished photographing every aspect of one lighthouse? Post the pictures here! Lighthouse-related photos are also welcome.

One of my favorite exterior photos that I took.

***End Edit***

A shot of the lower window.

A shot of the upper window. Shirin has a photo of Christina and I in this window.

Hey you two,

Those shots are all quite good ...

Stephen,

On the third one, what would be the little brick-barred opening up and to the left of the window?

Christina,

I really like the way you included the outside steps leading into the light, then the circular ones going back, up, and around. The angles and perspectives are balanced to my eye and work well for me. I also very much like the way the top of the door is squared, almost T'd off, offsetting the circular shape of the tower.

I like this shot very much ...

Again, thank you both for the posts.

Barry

Barry,

I am not sure. I was hoping Judy or Shirin could help me on this one?

The tower really isn't in bad consition from the looks of it. It just needs real windows and a door. The brick bars are probably a vent.

Zachary,

You are right about that. Most of the time I hear/see anything about Price's Creek is that it is the ruins of the light. I was suprised to see just how good of a condition the light is in. I have the feeling that someone at Archer-Daniels keeps an eye on the place.

I have not seen such a specific feature before, but I would surmise that the
little brick-barred opening up and to the left of the window

is a vent to allow air to enter the structure to facilitate proper lamp operation, and to evacuate the products of combustion from the lantern.
