Just got back from a lighthouse trip? Have you just finished photographing every aspect of one lighthouse? Post the pictures here! Lighthouse-related photos are also welcome.

The following photos are from Bruce Robert's camera. He has the best shots but gave me the rest :D to scan and use. So please don't be too critical of the shots...they're the ones that "got left on the cutting room floor".

The afternoon began for us with a presentaion of a check from US Cellular. The funds are earmarked for the BILH lens restoration. Left to right, Cliff Patterson, US Cellular; me as OBLHS Director of Fundraising; and Bett Padgett, President of OBLHS

On the porch of the Keeper's Dwelling, Commander John Little, Chief, Fifth USCG Aids to Navigation begins the transfer with Rear Admiral Sally Brice-O'Hara and newly appointed NPS Superintendent, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Philip Francis to his right, and Steve Harrison, NPS to his left...

Admiral O'Hara begins with a wonderful history of Bodie Island Lighthouse...

And I have to show the smiles :D

A few from my camera to complete the story...

And then it was time to celebrate.

After this, officials were allowed to climb the lighthouse. It was a glorious afternoon, and new partnerships and friends were made.

Hope you enjoy, and sorry for the delay in getting these posted, but we were on to the Spring Retreat that week.

Thanks for sharing those.

Now that we have the lens, we need to get busy raising money to restore it!

You are most welcome! Sorry more of you couldn't have been there to share the moment with us. There was a nice size crowd, but we told them there were many more with us in spirit!

The NPS did a good job of getting the media there, and thanks to Bruce Roberts, Southern Living was represented with a photographer. A S.Living reporter met up with Bruce and Cheryl in Southport and also interviewed (briefly) Bett and me. He confirmed that there will be an article in the Sept. '05 issue.

Glad I could share this with you.
