Once again last night I had the great opportunity to see a couple of the off shore lights of Western CT. Thanks Barry!!!

Below are a few shots of the Stamford Harbor and Greens Ledge lights.

What interesting views of these lighthouses. What type of birds are hanging out on the lighthouse(s)? What time of evening where these shots taken?

Thank you for sharing these photos with the site.

Shirin,

Keeper ... keeper, keeper, keeper ... keeper ... keeper, keeper

What a beautiful array of shots ... and I'm with Carole ... those birds ... what an eeriie touch of lurking evil they provoke ... some of us grew up with one of Mr Hitchcock's scariest works ... this almost puts a natutical twist on it.

Thanks for posting ... thanks for sharing

If I may answer for Shirin on the birds. They are double-crested cormorants.

We left the Crab Shell resturaunt in Stamford about 7pm last night and enjoyed a great ride on the LI Sound. We had nice weather all day and the evening was no exception! As for the birds those would be cormorants. Hope I spelled that right. Many of the lights on the Sound have been known to be hang outs for flocks of these birds. And maybe one of these days, I'll remember to get a closer shot of them for you.

Shirin,

As always great photos.

Thanks for taking us along. It'll help with not being able to do the Mini-Challenge or the mid-week cruise to those lights.

Barry, yes you wrote what I was thinking about the birds. Yes I now remember seeing cormorants hanging out and swimming (diving for food) under a railroad bridge. The place I saw them is in a park which is front of the CT State DEP office on the CT River. From this small park you can look across and down to mouth of the CT River to see the two lighthouses their.

Carol,

Would these be the two lighthouses you were referring to? I took these photos a few weeks ago on a cruise out of Waterford, CT.

Hi Shirin,

I'd have to say that your pictures accurately reflect how beautiful it was out on Long Island Sound last night - it simply doesn't get much better out there.

It's during nights like last night that Neisha and I really enjoy what we do. Ah - who am I kidding, we always enjoy being underway but last night was perfect for sure!

Well done on the pics Shirin.

See you soon,
Barry

Dennis is correct about the lights you can see from the other side of the CT River. You get a different perspective from upriver. Thank you for sharing these photo's with the board.

I admit I am missing Long Island Sound. It must have been wonderful on the Sound the other night.
