LSS - 2 of 4

Well, over the course of the weekend, Ross and I saw 4 Life Saving Stations. I managed to get photos of two out of the four.

At Sandy Hook:





And the one further down the road in NJ.



Missing are the stations in Virginia Beach and on Long Beach Island.

Sorry we could only do a "ride by" of Va Beach, but at least Ross saw it.

We saw it, it still counts! I figured the one south of Sandy Hook would not be one many would go out of their way to see so I just had to stop and get a photo for ya!

Where is the second LSS (the white one)?

It is in Monmouth Beach south of Sandy Hook on Route 36. It is currently being used as a cultural center.

I'm usually not one to get all excited about LSS's but I figured they were a part of the trip and should be documented.

I think it was a worth while addition. There are so many stations that have been lost and not much info out there about them. Lighthouses already have a following, LSS do not seem to be so lucky.

I figured it is not every day someone posts photos of either of these buildings so it wouldn't hurt to have them documented.

On the same road not to far from the the Monmouth Beach LSS are two more LSS that sit between Monmouth Beach and Sandy Hook.

Is that second one an 1874-Type station?

My notes say it is a "1871 type station built in 1874".
