Vineyard Sound/Buzzard's Bay Cruise (MANY PHOTOS)

Just got back from a lighthouse trip? Have you just finished photographing every aspect of one lighthouse? Post the pictures here! Lighthouse-related photos are also welcome.

Here are some shots from the cruise for Friends of Flying Santa, narrated by Jeremy D'Entremont and assembled by Brian Tague (it was definitely fun to be shooting next to these two!)

I tried some different things with this cruise, I tried out my Vari-ND filter, I used a polarizer on the sunset shots of Nobska (hence the darker bluer sky, it was more gray without it)... my 70-300mm polarizer makes a funky blue im noticing, and it's prevalent in the Gay Head shot with the cliffs, it gave me the same blue with my Bodie Island shots from last year... interesting...

I do confess on the Gay Head shots, I "photoshopped" out a person on the beach, and the funny part was, he was naked... i'll have to post the zoomed in version... it's fairly amusing

Ross,

Great shots and you finally got decent weather for a cruise.

"photoshopped" - - is that anything like trickery :?:

Ah, but he has the zoomed in version!

Awesome shots, Ross. I've got a couple faves in that batch.

It's ok Larry, it's just a naked guy. :)

I have to find that photo so I can prove it... I think Shirin got a full frontal shot of him (not on purpose of course)

Thanks all!

A naked man walking around at a place called Gay Head??? Wow, the jokes just write themselves, don't they.

As for Nobska, I've never seen a shot of that one that I can remember, I thought at first that it was Nubble and I was wondering how you got so close. A very solid set of images all around Ross, nicely done.

P.S. I don't need to see a picture of the naked guy, you all can keep that one to yourselves.

Leah, would you finish that with a paraphrase from Larry the Cable Guy (I wouldn't)....

"...you want to see the rest?"

Ross,

Good job on the photos. I think I like that one of Gay Head with the light on is my favorite of the group.

As for the naked guy, I'll pass.

Ross,

The familiar ... and the not so familiar ... all from angles we seldom get to see. I agree with Jen .. the lighting for the Nobska shots ... especially the first one ... just great.

And knowing where mortals have to shoot Bird Island from (on the seawall across from the golf course) and to see Gay Head from below and from the water ...

Thanks for sharing,
Barry
