The first light on the agenda for Friday was the pretty Conanicut which is a private residence today...

On to find Dutch Island (GPS is pretty cool!)... Image

And stretching the telephoto lens...

Back on the road again, we crossed the Jamestown bridge to see Plum Beach.
You can see this light from the water or from a moving car crossing the bridge...

Or, you can see it from land...

This next one is out of the travel order (which should drive the GPS crazy ;) )
I believe we went here after leaving Point Judith on Thursday.

Narragansett
Image

There is a restaurant being constructed around the old LSS
and there isn't much of the original structure to be seen...

So, to see what it once looked like - Scanned from an old postcard, circa, 1908...

More on the way...

Judy,

Thanks for those photos of the LSS in Narragansatt.

I drove by that numerous times when I visited my daughter, Beth, who was attending the University of RI. I often wondered what that structure used to be but never thought of it after I got home to search for it.

Beth literally lived down the road from it for 3 years.

Judy,

Enjoying the trip through the pictures. I haven't been to any of these lights so it is always good to see photos of lights you haven't been to.

Keep the photos coming!
Stephen

Judy

Thanks again for the memories.

The Towers of Narraganset are the symbol of Narraganset which is the town that Point Judith is in. Narraganset at one time had a huge casino. Several large fires destroyed a majority of the buildings. The towers are the Phoenix rising out of the ashes. I have been upstairs in the Towers. The part that goes over the road is a good size hall which the public can rent out from the Town of Narraganset for events.

The old LSS has been an up scale restaurant for years it was called the Coast Guard House. Maybe they are redoing it? I have a few pictures that you can see some of the detail of it being a LSS.

Judy you might not have noticed but in front of the Towers and LSS is a super beach. The waves are great for surfing and they used to allow people walk dogs on it. Woof - Woof.

Thanks everybody for the comments.

Dennis, I wasn't aware of the LSS until researching for this trip either. Really neat to find things like that.

Carole, can you post any of the LSS pictures you have? I did not see the beach side, so I don't know what is still showing on that side. It is a new restaurant...permit was posted.

I have more of this trip to post, but busy with my grandson so it won't be right away. I'm just working on them as I have time.
