Back in early February, Brent contacted me about adding a page to my site about the Fresnel lens. I have wanted to add such a page for sometime, but I really didn't know how to get started and wasn't sure if I had enough information on them to do it. He suggested that we work on it together.

After developing an outline, researching information, pooling photos dealing with the lens and its operation, and adding drawings hand drawn by Brent. We have completed the page now and it is now available for you to see at http://www.beachbum.homestead.com/Light ... lLens.html

We worked hard to make it as detailed as possible, yet keep it simple enough to easily understand.

Hopefully this page will help bring about more awareness for these beautiful lenses and a greater understanding of their use.

I hope you enjoy it!

PS. Brent,
Thanks for all the help!
Stephen

Nice page Stephen, I'm glad you two decided to tackle this one together.

If you want more Fresnel photos to use, let me know, I have quite a few.

it's a great site and has much information. From curiosity and to check against the resources I have been reading, what resources have the two of you used in your research? Thanks

Numerous sources including the U.S. Coast Guard archives and the NPS (National Maritime Initiative), the Michigan Lighthouse Conservancy and many more.

Stephen,

I think the way you integrated the graphics with the literature was done superbly ...

You did good ... real good!
