Keeper opportunities at the Cheboygan River Front Range

the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association (GLLKA) has a number of volunteer keeper openings for this coming season at the Cheboygan River Front Range light.

Unlike many volunteer keeper programs, GLLKA does not charge our volunteer keepers, believing instead that donating your time is more than enough to pay for the honor of serving at was once one of the busiest lighthouses on all the Great Lakes.

We open the lighthouse Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from Memorial Day through the second weekend in October. Most volunteers arrive at the lighthouse Friday afternoons for a brief training session, and then are on their own to lead tours, man the gift shop and do housekeeping chores from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the weekend or holiday. Anyone who would like to make a longer stay is also welcome. Stay the weekend, stay a month, or stay the summer - we are flexible and will be happy to work with you. Why pay to rent a vacation cottage when you can stay at a lighthouse for free!

For more information, and to download an application package and keepers manual click the "Volunteer at Cheboygan" link on the GLLKA home page at http://www.gllka.com

We'd love to see you there this year!
