El Pardon.....But how long has access been shut off to this site ?

I was out to photo the Buffalo Light, and the Bottle Light, in 2003 and again in 2005. At the time, there was a seperate gate for the walking path out to the Lights, around the north perimeter of the CG Station, and was usually open during the week M-F from about 10-4.

When did this change, and why was access denied ? I was in Buffalo last year, but I came to photo the Riverside Park Light and the McKinley marker, so I did not go down to Fordham to try to go out to the Buffalo Main Light, due to time constraints.

The Coast Guard increased security enforcement at bases a couple of years ago.

...
Two springs ago I was allowed out to the light but with
a Coast Guardsman's escort ...
