The first GLLKA excursion for 2013 will begin in the western basin of Lake Erie and then head up the the Detroit River into Lake St. Clair, and begins Friday May 31 and runs through Sunday June 2, 2013.

Here’s a brief rundown on the itinerary:

Friday make your way to Port Clinton, Ohio and check into your reserved hotel room. The excursion begins Saturday morning as we board the Jet Express IV and head across the western basin of Lake Erie, obtaining close-up views of the lights on West Sister Island, Turtle Island and the Toledo Harbor light. We then head into the Detroit River past the Detroit River light, and see all the US and Canadian lights as we make our way to a night at the historic St. Clair Inn. After breakfast Sunday morning, we head across Lake St. Clair to dock at privately owned St. Clair Flats Front range light station on Harsens Island. We will then board a smaller boat for the Trip to visit the old St. Clair Flats Range Lights, where we will disembark and climb the restored rear light tower. We then head back down the Detoit River, back into Lake Erie and gat a rare up close view of the remains of the elusive Colchester Reef light before returning to Port Clinton.

Cost for this unique excursion will be $695.00 per person for double occupancy and $830.00 for single occupancy. This price includes all hotels, meals and transportation, from Friday night through our return to Port Clinton on Sunday afternoon. Non GLLKA members will need to add $40 for a 1-year individual membership or $55 for a 1-year family membership in order to participate.
