Like winning at bingo? This lady needs to get out more. :D

But seriously, it's cool to see that this very unique lighthouse is getting a chance at preservation. I hope this group gets it done!!!

(The blade is an awesome name Barry...)

With an assist from "al" (as opposed to "AL") from the lighthousenuts site ... who in turn retrieved it from a poster from still another site, again from the Toledo Blade ... here's good news ...

A true architectural gem! Maybe one day I'll find some information on who designed this light, in order to satisfy my own curiosity. So far, I haven't had much luck, either with LH websites, or the National Archives-Online.
Gary Martin has a nice photo essay on the exterior of this structure, which he shot several years ago.
Thanks for the posts, Barry!

From The Toledo Blade

LAKE ERIE BOARD GOVES THREE PROJECTS $45,000

The Ohio Lake Erie Commission, the state's policy board for the lake, yesterday awarded nearly $45,000 to three projects aimed at protecting the lake and its watershed.

Heidelberg College received $15,000 ...

The Ohio State University Center for Farmland Policy Innovation received $14,906 ...

The Toledo Lighthouse Preservation Society received $14,900 for a first-phase study of preserving the exterior of the historic lighthouse. The project will included a detailed assessment of the building's condition, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems.

The Lake Erie Commission was created to preserve the lake's natural resources, enhance its water quality, and promote economic development in the region. The commission oversees the Ohio Lake Erie Protection Fund, which is supported by motorists who purchase the Lake Erie license plate.

Color and boldface are mine ...
