This photo shows the top of Stannard Rock Lighthouse
in Lake Superior, where scientists have installed devices
to help them measure evaporation from the lake. Officials
will use the information as they consider whether to change
their policy for releasing water from Lake Superior to the other
Great Lakes.

The last time I was at Lake Superior (Duluth and Split Rock) in Nov 2006, the big lake was the lowest I've ever seen it. Maybe it isn't at an all time low, but it was lower even relative to the last time I had seen it in the summer of 2005.
