From an article about Sleeping Bear Dunes ... from The Detroit Free Press

• The lighthouse on South Manitou Island is about to see the light. After years of historical renovations that cost $93,000, a new replica Fresnel lens has been installed, and now the park is just waiting for the lamp.

"We hope to have it in before the end of the month," Ulrich says. Once installed, the lighthouse will be lit up for the first time since 1958. This fall, it will burn through October, then be relit in spring.

Those on the mainland will be able to see the glowing lighthouse across the Manitou Passage.
