From The Leelanau News

Dec. 7, noon to 4 p.m. — The “Grand” Grand Traverse Lighthouse Christmas event. Volunteers with the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum re-create a McCormick Family Christmas of the 1920s. The interior and exterior of the lighthouse, the keeper’s quarters, and outbuildings are decorated for the season. The lighthouse tower will be open for all to climb and see the view of Lake Michigan from the top. Musicians Mark and Mary Westmaas, Rich and Cheryl Reiffer, and the Northport Community Band will provide holiday music through out the afternoon. Volunteers will play Christmas carols on the antique organ in the keeper’s residence as well. At 3 p.m., Santa Claus will arrive by fire truck to visit with all the children. There will be a Santa toy chest challenge and the person with the winning key gets all the prizes in the box. For more information about the event, call the lighthouse office at 386-7195.
