I rented a 30 Ft. Baha Fishing Charter, the Shamrock II for the day, out of Meinke Marina West, about 10 miles east of Toledo / Oregon, Ohio.....

The boat is owned & operated by Capt. John Nickell d.b.a. Shamrock Charters --- He can take up to six people --- We were out about 5 hours....I didn't go over to South Bass this time as I've been there many times already, and have a great shot of that light..........

Chuck ... thanks for sharing ...

While there were some new ones for me for sure, Im a sucker for the Toledo Harbor light and never tire of looking at pictures of that spectacularly unique structure ...

Oh, Yes Barry, Toledo Harbor, A Romanesque syle light, definitely one-of-a-kind on the Great Lakes......I was looking forward to getting access this summer until some scum stole the new portable docks............

Turtle Island looked in worse shape than I imagined it would, in fact the whole island looked desolate.....Not in the shot, but behind and to the left, is a partly colapsed building.....Also noted a bulldozer / frontloader (couldn't tell which), That has been out there awhile....I fear that this light has passed the "Point Of No Return"............

West Sister looked solid, but being just a few feet from the water with no erosion controls in place makes you wonder about the future fate of this light...........

Rattelsnake's neat little tower looked well cared for -- Hard to tell in this photo, but there is a black painted spiral staircase that winds up the center of the structure......Not shown, there is a sign at the bottom of the pier, reading "Rattlesnake Island Club -- Members only"....The grounds resemble a country club, and the buildings & grounds all looked well cared for........

John, there is also a tour boat that goes out to the Toledo Harbor Light only, the M/V SANDPIPER -- You can check out their website at....

http://www.sandpiperboat.org/

Click on "Public Tours" -- Here's some Info from the site............

"Lighthouse Cruise --- 2009 Schedule"
"Enjoy a 5 hour trip downriver past the new Veteran's Glass City Skyway Bridge, our busy port and out into Lake Erie to see Toledo's unique Harbor Lighthouse and the remains of the historic Turtle Island Lighthouse. Bring a picnic if you wish!
June 28, July 19, August 16, and September 13
Sundays Afternoons 12:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Adults $35, kids under 12 $15

Note that although this states "remains of...Turtle Island Lighthouse", they don't even get within a half mile of the place due to shallow water areas........
