Since I saw this post, I have been looking for some solid information on this light...And coming up empty.....Year of construction, Hight, Optic (if any)......Plenty on the park, nothing on the light.

If anyone can direct me where to dig, I'd be most grateful......

This is a faux lighthouse, built as a memorial to a young man who died a terrible death from cancer in 1978. Billy Ehrmann was the younger brother of former Baltimore Colts lineman Joe Ehrmann, and the familty hailed from Buffalo's Riverside section. Billy was 18 when he died, I believe, and had hoped to follow his older brother -- now the Rev. Joe Ehrmann, an inspirational speaker -- into pro football.

The lighthouse stands in a corner on the side of Riverside Park that's farthest from the Niagara River. A few people see it as an intrusion on one of the parks Frederick Law Olmsted designed for his iconic parks system in Buffalo, but most see it as a symbol of the neighborhood. It's concrete, no real optic, and I don't know the height offhand. It's not as tall as it looks, about tree height.

Oops -- in previous post, should have said this park was designed by Olmsted's firm -- it was the last Olmsted Park in the city's system, and by then Olmsted was 5 years into retirement but it was still a family firm.
