A few hundred miles from the sea, in the center of France, a lighthouse was built in 1933. http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=19230

Could not find much information. It has been operational till 1960. The visibility was said to be the most in history, up to 300NM, which is not really fare to compare with ordinary lighthouses, since the light was meant to beam up instead of horizontal. To reach a visibility of 42NM on sea level you need a light with an elevation of 400m (1300ft), so tower with a visibility of 300NM on sea level even nowadays would be impossible to construct. This photo set on flickr shows there's a radio station now http://www.flickr.com/photos/30829421@N04/sets/72157620822670092/with/3679375136/ so I presume the tower is not there anymore.
