In the U.S. a red sector denotes navigation hazard which differs from this red sector application. Also, I am not familiar with the navigation symbols displayed on this map.

I printed this map and on it constructed sector lines for the water tower light. Based on this the water tower red sector appears to include not Shark Island but the Naval Waters between the island and Woollahra Point.

Sorry Dave, I got my islands mixed up. It was Lord Howe which is a lot closer to the mainland than Norfolk. Lord Howe is also part of New South Wales whereas Norfolk is an independent territory of the Commonwealth. I guess age is catching up with my memory.

Not a problem, Kevin. This led to my learning about the interesting history of both Lord Howe's and Norfolk. I think, however, I will not relocate to either one in the immediate future. I plan for now to remain at my island location on the Maine Coast or until I acquire an airboat of suitable size though presently none are listed for sale by the numerous boat dealers in New England. Maybe I might find one on E-Bay. A jet-powered Catalina or Sandringham would be really great!

Interesting photos of the Cats. I remember seeing a Sandringham at Rose Bay when I was a kid and I couldn't believe how something that big could actually get airborne from water.
Good to see you are studying some of our history. Norfolk Island is full of it as that is where our original penal colony was established to house some of the convicts from the UK. It was a hell hole by all accounts not only for the prisoners but also for the soldiers who guarded them. We spen a very interesting 10 days there back in 1997 for my 60th birthday. See my web site:-
