Lighthouse newbie with a few questions

A forum to discuss lighthouse collectibles such as replicas, postcards, historical photos, etc. Due to their popularity, Harbor Lights replicas have a separate forum that can be found below.

On a trip with my girlfriend to Mendocino, we went to the Point Arena lighthouse and have been fans ever since. Whenever we go on trips we try and plan them through areas with lighthouses if possible. We've only visited about 8 so far.

My girlfriend started buying the little lighthouse replicas for each one that we've visited. She's been trying to get the very small Scassis size since we don't want to have a huge display, just like a little thimbal display. We've had trouble getting a couple of the lighthouses in this scale however. Point Sur and Pigeon Point are 2 that she needs.

I'm just looking for advice on where to maybe find these and some collecting pointers. I would love to see photos of others' collections if anyone has them online. I used to be a BIG collector of other kinds of memorabilia and peoples' collections of ANYTHING fascinate me. I would love to take a tour of the US and visit just odd collections, I think that would be wild.

Anyway, like I said, I'm new so any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Josh! Welcome to Lh.net!
Have you looked into the "Harbour Lights" line called "The Little Lights of Mine" series? There is quite an assortment of these little gems and they are very nicely detailed. They cost around $15-17 apiece.

Thanks for the tip! I checked them out and it appears they do not make a Point Sur, but I do see the Pigeon Pt.

Is this a new line? Do models go in and out of production/availability?

I'm guessing that Harbour Lights has been producing this line
since around '96 or '97.
These are all "open" pieces and remain in production based on
sales on a year to year basis. They also introduce new models
each year.
In addition, I believe that "Lefton" and "Spoontiques" also make
the smaller versions but I don't have much information on them.

Hi Josh!

You may also want to check into Danbury Mint. I don't know if they have miniature, but check it out. Also, Lenox has a collection of thimbal size lights, American and International. Check that out. I have both collections, but the only thing is, they really don't give the names of the lights, but they are a nice addition to a collection. It also has a wall mount in the shape of a lighthouse which holds them.
